A reciprocating pump is a positive displacement pump that uses the reciprocating motion of a piston, plunger or diaphragm in a pump cylinder to alternately increase and decrease the working volume in the cylinder to transport liquid or pressurize it. Reciprocating pumps are divided into three types according to different reciprocating components: piston pumps, plunger pumps and diaphragm pumps. The reciprocating pump is a kind of machinery widely used in the chemical industry sector. It transports chemical liquid media through the reciprocating motion of the plunger. The working conditions of the plungers of high-pressure reciprocating pumps and high-pressure metering pumps are very complex, and the usage conditions vary widely. Due to the friction and wear between the plunger surface and the sealing packing, especially when the medium is highly corrosive and corrosion products are produced to form corrosion wear, the service life will be short and leakage will easily occur, resulting in shutdown for maintenance. The thermal spray ceramic-coated plunger is used to replace the traditional chrome-plated plunger, which has significant benefits and is more corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant.

  • Drilling equipment: 

Plunger plays a key role in oil drilling equipment, especially in the pressure and delivery of mud to the wellbore, cooling and lubrication of the drill bit, and conveying gravel. Plunger motors can be used in reciprocating pump systems commonly used in the oil and gas industry. These motors can drive plungers or pistons to produce the reciprocating motion required to pump fluids such as crude oil, water or chemicals. The traditional chrome-plated plunger or heat-treated quenched plunger has a short life span of only about one month, becoming a key vulnerable part of the plunger reciprocating metering pump.
